3. PROCEDURES

WEAR GLOVES AND SAFETY GLASSES AT ALL TIMES WHEN WORKING WITH SAKRETE SHAPECRETE. WEAR DUST MASK WHEN MEASURING AND MIXING DRY SAKRETE SHAPECRETE.

Mixing: SAKRETE ShapeCrete can be mixed for two types of applications. Both will provide a strong, durable result:

Clay-Like Mix: 4 parts SAKRETE ShapeCrete to approximately 1 part water. Use less water for a stiff yet malleable, clay-like consistency, ideal for sculpting, hand-packing and free-form applications. One 9.1 KG (20 lb) pail requires 1.4 L (1.5 qts) of water.

Casting Mix: 3 parts SAKRETE ShapeCrete to approximately 1 part water. Use slightly more water than for a Clay-like Mix, for a fluid, batter-like consistency ideal for pouring into a mold-form application. One 9.1 KG (20 lb) pail requires 1.9 L (2.0 qts) of water.

Always start with placing about 1/2 of the required water in a mixing container. Gradually add SAKRETE ShapeCrete to the water. Using a paint stick, putty knife or trowel, stir and blend the SAKRETE ShapeCrete mix with the water, until clumpy. Continue stirring, gradually adding the remaining portion of water as needed, for desired consistency. Mixing larger quantities of SAKRETE ShapeCrete is easier using a drill with a paddle mixer and a large bucket.

After water has been added to the mix, there is approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour of working time at room temperature (21 °C, 70 °F). To re temper SAKRETE ShapeCrete after 20 minutes of working with the mix, re-agitate the mixture by stirring with a putty knife or by adding small amounts of water to make it more pliable or fluid.

4. CURING

Place plastic sheet loosely over object to trap moisture while curing. Moisture helps SAKRETE ShapeCrete cure to a stronger degree. Allow to cure for at least 24 hours. SAKRETE ShapeCrete will reach full strength in 28 days.

5. TECHNICAL DATA

Working Time: 30 – 60 minutes

6. PAINTING

Material must be fully cured (approximately 7 days) before painting.

7. CLEAN UP

Clean all tools with water immediately after use.

8. YIELD

One 9.1 KG (20 lb) pail of SAKRETE ShapeCrete will yield an object approximately: 61 cm x 61 cm x 1.25 cm (2’ x 2’ x ½”) thick, or an object approximately: 30 cm x 30 cm x 5 cm (1’ x 1’ x 2”) thick.

9. STORAGE & SHELF LIFE

Material should be stored in a dry covered area protected from the elements. Unopened pails have a shelf life of 12 months.

10. SAFETY PROCEDURES

CAUSES BURNS. Do not swallow. Do not get in eyes. Do not get on skin or clothing. Do not breathe fumes. Handle with care. Keep out of reach of children. Wear safety glasses, protective clothing and dust mask. Use only in a well-ventilated area.
