Prince Edward Viaduct Bridge Repairs, Toronto, ON
MS-D1 X
HCM Shotcrete assisted Toronto Zenith Contracting Ltd. with the placement and finishing of shotcrete for the Prince Edward Viaduct bridge pier repairs. The repair areas were located on the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) right-of-way. As such, work was only permitted during short, 4 hour, Sunday morning, work shifts.
Due to the short-track access window and the requirement for subway train passage, HCM Shotcrete’s in-house Engineers proposed the use of accelerated, dry-process shotcrete. Moreover, it would need to be placed during time periods of just a few hours each. The proposal was accepted following a mock-up that was conducted on-site and subsequent testing of placed material.
HCM Shotcrete saved approximately 4 weeks of scheduled time, which allowed Toronto Zenith Contracting Ltd. to complete this critical path item on-time, as well as with reduced labour requirements, material and equipment costs.
